Oh What a Night…then the days of the blackouts ended
when Bill Ashton completed the installation of phase 3 power in 2013.
For many years the wiring had been under pressure. Imagine being plunged into darkness, music stops, lights out, because someone put a kettle on in the kitchen and poof! Overload and the’ fuse at the pole’ popped out.
Fortunately, our custodian, Alan White, was at hand to set things back in motion, but it could be a quick way to end an event. Not ok.
In 2013 it was resolved to upgrade the power supply, and that’s where Bill Ashton came in to do the job for us. We now have isolaters in the new fuse box, which mean an event can continue without interruption. A portion of a grant from Network Tasman Trust and accumulated reserves covered costs.
So much done at the hall so far is inside and not visible, but it’s in the best presentation for hire now, than for the past 40 years. Character and convenience combine to provide an enjoyable venue, without the risk of being plunged into darkness. Hats off to that! Thanks Bill…
